VEO 5 264CO Carbon Fibre Spotting Scope Tripod

he VEO 5 264CO 28 is a carbon fibre tripod that is fitted with the VEO PH-28 2-way pan head to deliver a great combination of performance and portability for any spotting scope. 

The tripod uses high quality aluminium for key load bearing components, which is then CNC machined to shave off weight, for example with a with a slimmer tripod canopy, and deliver outstanding levels of tolerance to ensure the smoothest movement.

Arca compatible head:

The VEO PH-28 2-way pan head is specifically designed for spotting scopes with a single telescopic handle that controls the lock and movement. When loosened, it allows you to follow a bird in flight with ease, rotating 360° and tilting -91° and +30°.  Then simply turning the handle allows you to lock your spotting scope in place when the bird has landed. All this while keeping a hand free to adjust the focus or zoom of your spotting scope.

If the foot of your spotting scope is Arca compatible then you can fit it directly into the clamp of the VEO PH-28 for the most secure fit. If not, the kit includes a compact Arca QS-55P quick release plate that is designed for spotting scopes with a non-twist spring pin, ensuring that the quick release plate cannot unscrew from the base of your spotting scope.

Portability:

This aluminium tripod incorporates 26mm legs with 4-sections that can fold down to just 58cm and weighs in at 1920g.

In addition, the central column has been designed with an innovative hexagonal shape that allows the legs to fold in tighter, reducing the diameter of the legs when folded to just 9.25cm.  This makes it easy to carry in one hand, or pack for a trip while still fitting into a traditional hide clamp*.

It also comes with a luxury padded shoulder bag to keep it safe at home or on the go and make it easy to carry, with quick top access or full length easy access.

Capability:

This tripod can extend to 141cm with the central column down, or up to 167cm with the central column fully extended, perfect for the tallest birder with an angled or straight spotting scope.

The hexagonal central column is also split to incorporate a built in low angle adaptor.  Simply remove the central column, loosen the locking screw with the hex key provided and split the central column and you're good to go. Combined with the three easy set leg angles (23°, 50° and 80°) it allows you to set up the tripod in the most stable position possible, or down as low as 21cm.

If you don't need the extra height of a central column, then simply remove the lower portion of the centre column, and you can lighten the tripod to improve the portability, without sacrificing stability. 

The hexagonal central column will also fit into a traditional hide clamp* as three edges are curved, allowing firm contact with a traditional clamp designed for round central columns. 

For added stability in the field, there is a retractable hook to attach additional weight, and the legs have retractable rubber/spiked to match the terrain.

On the side of the central canopy are 3/8" threads for tripod support arms, allowing you to attach the accessories of your choice.  These threads include bayonet slots on either side that ensure maximum stability on tripod support arms with that feature, such as the VEO TSA DLX which has a reversible plate for bayonet/non-bayonet fittings.
