PRO TREKKING BACKPACKS
If you're planning a trip in the mountains, then you may want to consider a bag that's designed to carry a heavy kit over the toughest terrain, as comfortable as possible. Here are some things you may wish to consider when choosing your backpack:
What kit do you need
There will be a load of camera bags that can carry your camera and lenses, but the to be self-sufficient on a summit requires a different level of personal kit to a visit to the local park.
Level of protection
Most camera bags will have suitable everyday protection, but you want to ensure that the materials are as weatherproof and rip proof as possible on more remote trips (and includes a rain cover).
A good harness system with a comfortable waist strap, cinch clips to draw the bag in at the shoulders, a good tripod holder and a comfortable airflow system will all help make the hike as comfortable as possible.
You may just want the bag as a camera bag, but you may also want to be able to use it as an everyday backpack. Just something to think of whey you're making your decision.
The Alta Sky is our original pro trekking backpack that is designed to protect your kit on the toughest trek while maximising the comfort, but using the basis of a traditional camera bag, for example with padding built into the structure of the bag.
VEO Active is a more takes the learnings from the Alta Sky to deliver a more authentic hiking backpack with improvements to the materials and storage, without compromising on comfort or protection.
ALTA SKY BACKPACKS
We've nicknamed the Alta Sky 68 "the beast" as this 36 litre backpack measures 360×230×595mm, but allows photographer to carry up to an 800mm lens with an additional seven lenses (and 16" laptop). This means you don't have to miss an unexpected landscape or macro shot on a trip with your 800mm lens any more.
VEO ACTIVE BACKPACKS
If you have different kit setups, you can buy a separate insert so you don't have to reconfigure your VEO Active for every trip. Simply remove and add the replacement insert, leaving your spare kit safely protected at home.
