Vanguard offer two options of universal gun clamps within the Endeavor GM Series :
- the solid Endeavor GM-70 rifle clamp and
- the compact and lightweight Endeavor GM-65
ENDEAVOR GM-70
Launched in 2023, this solid rifle clamp has proven to be a popular choice as both a head on its own, and pre-fitted to our recommended tripod in the Endeavor L Series (with a built in level) or an Endeavor RL Series (with a removable level) gun rest kit.

This clamp is constructed from heavy duty aluminium with a clamp that can open between 30mm to 70m and includes a textured rubber inner lining and oversized locking wheel to ensure a solid grip to your rifle.
ENDEAVOR GM-65
Following the launch of the Endeavor GM-70 we found many users were looking to attach the clamp to lighter shooting supports from a range of brands to use out in the field. As the Endeavor GM-70 weighs in at 815g, we decided to develop a lighter alternative.

We also received feedback that many shooters would like clamps that angle in towards to the top as this would increase the contact with the rifle forestock as it narrows towards the barrel.
Enter the Endeavor GM-65 in 2025 which weighs in at just 400g which is less than half the weight of the Endeavor GM-70, and has clamps that angle in at 85° allowing the clamp to open to 65mm at the top and 75mm at the base for a secure grip on all by the largest calibres.
These are also available as kits within the Endeavor L Series (with a built in level).
KEY DIFFERENCES:
While there are many similarities, there are two key differences to consider (and one which is optional).
#1 | Bulk: The Endeavor GM-70 is designed to be big and solid for the highest calibre rifles, and is larger and heavier than the Endeavor GM-65 which is definitely more portable. It weighs 815g (vs 400g) and the dimensions are 145 x 100 x 100mm (vs 100 x 60 x 85mm).
#2 | Clamp Angle: The clamp is designed to hold the forestock and these can be flat sided (or relatively so), or wider at the base then narrowing towards the barrel. While both models will work with either style, each is slightly better suited to either the flat sided forestock, or narrowing forestock.
- The clamps on the Endeavor GM-70 are flat (at 90°) so the clamp opens to 70mm at the top and 70mm at the base making it ideal for the flat sided forestock.
- The clamps on the Endeavor GM-65 are angled (at 85°) so the clamp opens to 65mm at the top and 75mm at the base making it ideal for the narrowing forestock.
As a result, the shape of your rifle forestock should be considered when choosing the right model for you.
#3 | Locking Dial: The Endeavor GM-70 features an oversized wheel, while the Endeavor GM-65 has three spokes to reduce the weight. It is a visual difference, but in use, both are easy to open and close in the field, even in cold and wet conditions wearing gloves.
FITTING TO A SUPPORT
If you have a photography or spotting scope support with an Arca compatible head, then you can attach both the Endeavor GM-65 and Endeavor GM-70 directly into the top clamp.
Both clamps come with an industry standard 3/8” thread hole with a 1/4” adaptor fitted at factory, so they can be attached to any support where the existing head can be removed.
If you want to attach it to a tripod head that is not Arca compatible, you can also use the 1/4" thread hole to attach a quick release plate from your chosen tripod, though this will not give you the same secure fit as the two previous options.
IN SUMMARY
Both are solid and capable universal rifle clamps. It simply comes down to the importance of portability and the shape of your rifle forestock.
