Joel Robison is a conceptual portrait photographer. He's always loved the fantasy world created by the minds of Walt Disney, Dr. Seuss, Jim Henson and many more, and he enjoys putting whimsical elements inspired by these role models into his work.
Recently Joel has been travelling the world and working on photography inspired by famous children's books such as Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins; and on his travels he has been testing the Vanguard VEO Range
In his words:
VEO 265CB carbon fibre travel tripod
As someone who travels a lot, both in the air and by train, car, and sometimes boat having a lightweight but durable tripod is essential. I tend to walk quite a distance to get the locations I use in my photos and it's not always feasible to carry a heavy amount of gear. The VEO 265CB is the perfect travel companion, whether you are hiking up a mountain, hopping on a plane, or just walking around the city it's lightweight enough that it doesn't add any weight to your bag but strong and sturdy enough to withstand wind and uneven terrain. Having a tripod that folds up to fit into any bag I may be using is a treat and I highly recommend this tripod to anyone who is looking to maximize efficiency in their gear!
VEO 37 messenger bag
By nature I'm an outside in the forest type of person but quite often I find myself doing photography jobs or meetings in the city or more casual environments. The VEO 37 shoulder bag is a sleek messenger style bag that fits in quite easily both on a subway or coffee shop but also in the woods or long walks up hillsides. I love the bottom zip which enables quick access a tripod as well as the sleek pockets that help store the essentials like memory cards, batteries and all the little bits that often go missing in bigger bags. A bag I certainly recommend for anyone that's looking for a casual bag to discreetly bring around the city.
